SERVPRO’s Professional Technicians Thoroughly Dry Out Your Home after Water Damage

All houses wear and tear as they age and things tend to break. Sometimes water pipes or appliances break inside your Kendall home, causing water to escape. Unwanted moisture causes many problems inside your building.

It is never a good idea to leave moisture in your house without addressing the problem. SERVPRO's water damage experts in Kendall are IICRC certified and experienced in preventing future problems. Not only does water ruin contents and building materials, if left unattended, mold growth possibly occurs.

When our SERVPRO specialists first arrive at your residence, we start by securing the work area. Then, we extract any standing water that is present. Depending on moisture levels, often specialized equipment gets used to pull moisture out of carpet and upholstery.

During the drying step, there are two different ways we proceed to mitigate your moisture issue. We always use either an open or closed drying system.

Anytime you are attempting to dry out a building; moisture must get removed from the air. An open drying system uses air from the outside to create air circulation that dries out building materials. This system is only efficient when the air outside of the building has significantly less moisture than the air inside.

In many cases, a closed drying system is more efficient. This type of system creates airflow only in the area that is affected and seals off any air coming from the outside or unaffected areas inside the building. In this scenario, we typically use air movers and dehumidifiers to create the best environment for drying.

Air movers increase the rate of evaporation in the building. High-velocity airflows that come from them remove moist air next to wet surfaces and replaces it with dry air. The specialized equipment makes it possible to clamp carpet onto the exhaust and "float" it. We also have shrouds that get attached to the snout, allowing the movers to push air into wall cavities or under cabinets.

There is much science involved when it comes to drying out moisture issues inside your home. The best idea is to call SERVPRO of Cutler Bay at (305) 278-8484 for help 24/7.
