However, if the tank somehow cracks or breaks, you could end up with excessive water damage. Most of the time when carpeting is involved, we need to disengage carpet and remove the pad. Because the pad is inexpensive, a new pad can be installed when the carpet is put back. When doing so, the carpet is already cut to fit the room, so reinstallation is a matter of positioning the carpet correctly and stretching it back onto the tackless strip. Seams might have to cut seams at doorways when the carpet was taken out, so re-seaming is usually required.

When reinstalling the carpet, SERVPRO techs first ensure the subfloor is thoroughly dry and level. We vacuum and sweep to remove any debris and remove furniture and doors as necessary. We also check the carpet for weak seams, delamination, mold damage, or tears. We also reinstall the tackles strip when needed.

A new pad the same thickness, type, and density as the old one is installed. The pad is laid out using tackles for a straight edge and is installed at right angles to the carpet seams. We cut the pad to fit the biggest areas first, using a sharp blade. The paid is laid down slick side facing up so the carpet can slide over it. We tape the seams of the pad and anchor it with double-sided, non-paper tape, glue, or staples.
